On Thursday 23 February the House of Commons will debate cycle safety for the first time since 1996, and there's a strong chance your Member of Parliament won't even turn up.

We're asking you to take a minute to send a message to your MP to tell them how important cycle safety is to you.

Despite all the publicity around road danger that we, The Times newspaper, and other hard-working campaigners have generated in London and across the UK, only 58 MPs (out of 650) have signed Early Day Motion 2689.

Yes, the shocking truth is that fewer than 1 in 10 MPs agrees the Government should "take further action to improve cycling infrastructure and reduce the number of casualties on roads".

We're urging anyone who wants to see a more cycle-friendly city, to write to their MP now urging them to sign the motion and attend this crucial Commons debate.
