Some children on the missions that Maryknoll helps
Dear Deacon Nguyen,

We think of food and water as the basics of life... two of our most precious gifts. And we consider ourselves fortunate to have both. I know I do. But for many children and families in the world, the basics are hard to come by.

That’s why I wrote to you just a few days ago with an urgent request that should have arrived by now. It’s a letter with heartfelt messages from Maryknoll missioners overseas who are dealing with terrible realities: famine, drought, a global pandemic and even the impact of civil war.

Our missioners are doing all they can to alleviate conditions on the ground—and to ease the human suffering that’s truly a heartache. But despite their efforts, the day-to-day challenges just aren’t going away. I’m writing now to say your gift to Maryknoll will be a blessing. Whatever amount you can offer is going to provide someone with the gift of hope.
  • With your help, Father Lance Nadeau, M.M. will be able to dig more water wells in Kenya. Just imagine what access to dependable, clean water will mean to poor rural families.
  • With your gift, Father Michael Bassano, M.M. and Father John Barth, M.M. will feed more families living in South Sudan’s war zone—and offer the comfort of the sacraments.
  • With your support, Father Charles Dittmeier, M.M. can expand his feeding program in Cambodia for the elderly, many of whom live alone and are unable to provide for themselves.
  • And in Peru, Father Joseph Fedora, M.M. will welcome your gift to support his feeding program for HIV+ inmates in one of Peru’s most notorious prisons.
In Baptism each of us is called to love and serve the Lord. This is the scripture that inspires every Maryknoll missioner—and I hope moves you to share our calling:
Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? Who will go for us?” “Here I am,” I said; “send me!” - Isaiah 6:8
These same words are in the heart of every Maryknoll missioner. Our Fathers and Brothers are sent to serve the most vulnerable and to witness Christ’s mercy.

Please join us as a missioner of the Gospel with your prayers and a gift for those in our care. Our message of compassion reaches individuals and families in 22 countries throughout the world. With your help, many more will know God’s love. Thank you for giving.
Father Raymond J. Finch, M.M.
May God bless you,
