Help us seize this historic moment

Dear ,

Chesapeake PSR needs your help.  We are on the front lines – right now –responding to serious threats to public health.

When Baltimore PSR – now Chesapeake PSR – was founded in 1981, one of its guiding principles was the need to eliminate nuclear weapons. Two weeks ago, our movement got a big boost  – the Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN) for their efforts advancing the U.N. Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons. ICAN was founded by PSR's international affiliate, International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War (IPPNW), winner of the 1985 Nobel Peace Prize

It is urgent we reinforce this historic win by growing the voices calling for nuclear disarmament. Building on our successful October 7, "Speaker Training: The Humanitarian Case for Eliminating Nuclear Weapons," we are proud to announce that we will host another workshop this winter on the economic and moral costs of nuclear weapons. Yet without adequate funding, it will be difficult for us to do the critical organizing that is required after the conference. Chesapeake PSR needs your help to seize this historic moment. Please donate today!

Also, every day we hear of more efforts to roll back environmental protections, including clean air, clean water and chemical safety regulations. With each assault we recognize that more is required of us. Each of our core program areas has critical needs that exceed our current funding. We need support from you, our members and friends, so we can continue to boldly challenge the powerful.

We ask you to please stand with us and be a Chesapeake PSR supporter. Our goal is to inform, organize and activate health professionals and allies during this critical period.

There is no group like Chesapeake PSR in Maryland. Our success is based on our commitment to health science, coalition-building and advocacy, making us a trusted voice with policymakers and the public.

Your gift today could make the difference: one more trip to Annapolis, one more community organizing meeting, one more presentation to health professionals: just what it may take to win several upcoming public health battles.

We need your help. Please give today.

With gratitude,
